RPMDA Gathering Unites Industry Friends and Sets the Scene for New Interviews

The passionate members of Retail Print Music Dealers Association (RPMDA) gathered for their annual meeting in Los Angeles last month.

The meeting, which included well-received educational sessions and nearly 50 exhibitors, began on the wedding anniversary of Morty and Iris Manus (interviewed back in 2003), the former owners of Alfred Music Publishing, located in southern California.

The event concluded with the annual awards dinner during which Northwest Music Services founder Bill Stonier (interviewed in 2004) was given the organization’s highest honor, the Dorothy Award. The outgoing president, Gayle Beacock (interviewed in 2010), presented longtime member and veteran retailer Mick Faulhaber (interviewed in 2005) with the John Walters President’s Choice Award.

Several interviews were also captured during the event, including Kevin Cranley and Richard Gore. Next year, the event will be held May 1–4, 2013, in Columbus, Ohio, home of Jim Strouse (interviewed in 2005) and Stanton’s Sheet Music.

Thank you to all who spent time talking with us during this event!
