NAMM'S Oral History Interview with Ravi Shankar
Ravi Shankar was called the Godfather of World Music by his longtime friend George Harrison. Ravi’s role in bringing Indian music to the world was the beginning of many musical exchanges that have since been referred to as world music. As he describes his experience with music while playing—alone or for a crowd—he explains, "That’s what I call the greatest moment of music, when I become music myself. There’s no difference between my sitar or me."
