Retail Stores in Action!

Retail Stores in Action Visits with retailers remind us of the passion for music.

To see a real love for music in action every day, look no further than your local music store.

Sometimes we forget that the best work being done to encourage music makers and strengthen our industry is going on under our own feet down the street at the neighborhood music store. As we travel to capture interviews for the Oral History Program, we make a point to visit music stores in the cities we visit. What can be seen is awe inspiring—young students trying an instrument for the first time, teachers seeking new materials and smiles from those returning to pick up their newly repaired horns. Capturing the stories behind this passion has been a focus for our archives and a factor that is especially meaningful to those of us who get to encounter this passion on a regular basis.

To showcase a few recent examples of this passion being captured for our collection, here are links to two such music retailers who possess these amazing qualities so prevalent throughout our industry:

Lee Anderton

Whitney Grisaffi

Thank you to all of you who promote the joy of music making in your communities!
