"All businesses are struggling with health care. And while NAMM is still working in Washington as part of a national coalition to pass legislation that will allow associations to use group buying power for the benefit of small business Members, this new program provides our Members with access to coverage right now. While there are no easy answers to this situation, NAMM’s goal is to help our Members who need it, get connected with a good health plan for their families and staff.

- Joe Lamond, president and CEO, NAMM

Frequently Asked Questions

Is NAMM offering a health insurance plan to Members?

No, this is not a single insurance plan but a service where you can select from many options to find the best coverage and rates available. Although NAMM continues to review options, current state laws don't allow associations like NAMM to create a national health care plan, but what we can offer our Members is access to a choice of plans where they reside.

What is NAMM offering?

Services that will save time, save money, make benefits easier to manage and keep you compliant, regardless of your size. We deliver this through access to more than 400 insurers nationally, offering an employer AND employee help desk, an "Ask The Experts" hotline for employers on HR related issues, and a variety of valuable web-based information.

Our commitment is to find NAMM Members today’s best available health insurance for their specific budget, location and individual medical needs.

Is NAMM offering a discount on health services through this program?

Insurance rates are regulated by each state; therefore, discounts are typically based on an insurer’s individual medical criteria, for group insurance with fewer than 50 employees. Some types of insurance may qualify for proprietary program discounts with long rate guarantees or preferred underwriting. Additionally, discount cards may be purchased for certain services, via the website: www.marshsbi.com/namm.

What kind of coverage is available?

NAMM Members will be able to evaluate health, dental, vision, life and accidental death and disability, short and long term disability, as well as vision coverage in all 50 states. You will also have access to services such as HR tools, benefits administration, COBRA/HIPAA administration, Flexible Spending Account administration, etc.

Via Mercer’s partnership with Marsh, we have also added access to certain types of business insurance, travel insurance, long-term care and a variety of related discounts.

Why should I consider discount cards for my employees or family? What is offered?

The discount cards offer discounts on supplies and services via a network for Rx, physician services, dental, vision, etc, based on the cards purchased. This is a cost effective way to add benefits for employees if a traditional insurance plan is not being offered.

Members may also access discounts on entertainment, travel and home services within NAMM’s discount card access program. Visit the website for a complete list with descriptions and pricing.

How do I quickly access the Mercer Sales Desk for NAMM?

You can click on the link below to request a quote or ask that a representative call you. You may also call 1-877-532-3516 to speak to a consultant today.

What information will I need to provide?

Companies will need to provide a census of all full-time employees (gender, age, home zip code, type of plans enrolled in now, and dependents, such as a covered spouse or children). The representative will ask about any current insurance you are replacing and whether there are disabled persons, COBRA continuees or known health conditions that need to be covered.

What type of health information or exam is required?

Depending on the specific plan you're interested in, you may need to answer some basic questions or provide evidence of good health before the insurance company approves your policy. Health exams may be requested for individual life and disability applications only.
