Sarasota Guitar Company opened its doors in December 2009. That same month we created a Facebook page for our store - www.facebook.com/sarasotaguitarcompany . To date we have more than 2100 Facebook fans and more join and "like" us every day. Our user metrics are very high.

Get out and get involved.

I have talked with many Indie store owners that are looking for a way to get exposure for their stores and have a tight budget. Today's tight economy makes it harder to get that customer in the door and earn his/her business. I will share a few things that have helped me.

Use SCORE Services

A couple years ago NAMM created an area at the NAMM Show where NAMM members can find assistance from many organizations, such as the Small Business Administration (SBA) and SCORE.  We made a connection with SCORE. We needed some advice regarding marketing and a few other issues. We could have found an "expert" who would likely have an agenda and a hefty price tag.
