I have talked with many Indie store owners that are looking for a way to get exposure for their stores and have a tight budget. Today's tight economy makes it harder to get that customer in the door and earn his/her business. I will share a few things that have helped me.
Getting out behind that counter and getting involved in your community might just be the BEST marketing available. I recently was asked to be a board member of our local chamber. One Friday each month our Chamber holds a "Make a Business Connection" luncheon. Business members work on an "elevator pitch" and then we go from table to table and make this pitch to other business's in our community. I am always a bit amazed that so many others really don't know what we actually do! Yes they know we sell guitars and drums but almost always seem shocked when i mention we design and install audio and video systems as well.
It;s a fun exercise and a FREE lunch. I also know that serving on that board continues to give me and my shop exposure. Helps keep our name and services top o mind.
