Sarasota Guitar Company opened its doors in December 2009. That same month we created a Facebook page for our store - www.facebook.com/sarasotaguitarcompany . To date we have more than 2100 Facebook fans and more join and "like" us every day. Our user metrics are very high. In the last month we had 70,000 post views and over 2,000 active users.
The secret to our success is that we don't use our FB page to constantly try to sell. We do announce new products and special events and sales, but the majority of both our posts and posts of our fans have to do with the one thing that brings us all together--our shared passions--namely, guitars and music. Local musicians regularly post gigs and videos, fans stop by our page to see what is happening music-wise in our city, and customers often post pictures of themselves with their guitars. Whenever we are out listening to live music, we try to take a photo or video in real time and post it on our page. We use Facebook as a means of creating community. Our fans and customers think of us as friends. And we think the same of them.
