Company: Steinway Piano Gallery of Naples

Greg Billings, started working in his fathers piano and guitar shop at the age of 15. While attending the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee he worked in the music publishing business. 35 years ago he opened his own retail store. Prior to opening the Steinway Piano Gallery in Naples, Florida, he served as a sales rep and product manager for Samick Musical Instruments. He and his son Grant also own the Steinway Piano Gallery in Madison, WI.

 

In 1997 he founded of the Southwest Florida Steinway Piano Society, which has provided over $150,000 in scholarships to young pianists and also provides pianos to economically disadvantaged kids through their Piano Bank. The Physician’s and Pastor’s Talent Shows he produces have generated more than $100,000 for the Neighborhood Health Clinic.

 

Billings was elected to the National Association of Music Merchants, Board of Directors in 1993, and he served on the Florida Gulf Coast University Scholars Club Board of Advisors. He is the author of the Piano Retailer Code of Ethics and writes a monthly column, The Customer Whisperer, for Music, Inc. Magazine. He lives in Naples with his wife Sara and plays bass and keyboards his 11 piece band Throat Culture.
