Jim Rupp is the president of Columbus Percussion, one of the largest percussion specially stores in the country. Founded in 1981, Columbus Percussion has a staff of 17, teaches 225 lessons a week, and features a full custom and repair shop.

As a drummer, JIm has extensive experience traveling the globe with the Woody Herman Orchestra, Maynard Ferguson, Tony Bennett, and he was the longtime drummer for Grammy Award winning jazz singer Diane Schuur. He has taught jazz drumming at The Ohio State University, and the University of Michigan, and he continues to do performances, workshops and clinics around the world.

Jim is also a founding board member of the Five Star Drum Shops association, a past board member of NAMM, and the longtime chair of the drum set committee for the Percussive Arts Society.
