5 Ways to Take Advantage of NAMM's National Wanna Play Music Week
1. Download the National Wanna Play Music Week logo or Web banner and use it to create and promote your own local sale, promotion or outreach effort to non-players. Hint: a great time to hold the sale would be Music Store Appreciation Day (Friday). Be sure to put this info on your company's Web site. You may want to use some of our stories/content on the wannaplaymusic.com Web site.
2. Download our template press release, (see below) insert your company's information and send it to your local media (newspapers, radio stations, TV, Web sites). Also post it on your Web site and send it out through your social networks. Then have a staff person follow-up with those media contacts and invite them down to the store to cover your National Wanna Play Music Week activities.
3. Learn about NAMM's new Wanna Play Experience program and use National Wanna Play Music Week as a reason to try it out. Several NAMM Members that have run the program have attracted new customers and made sales using this "open house for non-musicians" type of approach.
4. Gather your employees and customers to play music in the store at the same time during "Music Monday." Better yet, film it and upload to our Facebook page so you can make your voice heard about the importance of music and music education in our communities.
5. Think about your company's surprising celebrity musician customers (actors, authors, business leaders, sports figures, etc.) and write up short stories about them, why they play, what they bought at the store and post to your Web site. If you have a good relationship with a local celebrity, invite them to the store to talk about why they play music and what it means to them. We've found that this approach can really motivate non-players to come to the store, learn more and take that next step toward playing music.
There are countless ways your company can benefit from NAMM's National Wanna Play Music Week.
