Carlsbad, CA, November 10, 2009—NAMM today announced details about how Members can participate in the association's upcoming 2010 Advocacy Fly-In event in Washington D.C. NAMM will convene a group of Members for advocacy training, Congressional meetings and related events which will take place May 10-13, 2010. NAMM encourages all Members who are interested in music education and music products business advocacy at the federal level to attend either in person (requires $250 registration fee and Member must supply own airfare or ground transportation to Washington) or virtually via a live Web cast on May 11.

The focus of the Capitol Hill meetings will again be to discuss the need for strong music education programs in our nation's schools. For more information, read about last year's Member Fly-In.

2010 Advocacy Fly-in events include an opening reception on May 10, issue briefing and advocacy training on May 11 (also available via live Web cast), in-person visits to Congressional offices and a reception in the U.S. Capitol on May 12. Members need to cover their own round trip costs to Washington, DC and pay a $250 registration fee to offset Fly-in costs. NAMM will provide 2-3 nights at the Liaison Capitol Hill hotel as well as meals and needed transportation to all Fly-in events.

"NAMM’s advocacy activity represents the needs of the music products industry and we're glad to be able to open this activity to more NAMM Members this year," said Mary Luehrsen, director of public affairs and government relations. "But even if you can't join us in Washington, we hope everyone interested in these issues will tune into our live Web casts next May."

A speical thank you to the 26 NAMM Members who have registered to be part of Advocacy Fly-in 2010.
