NAPBIRT Meeting Sets the Scene for New Interviews
The 36th annual National Association of Professional Band Instrument Repair Technicians (NAPBIRT) convention was held in the association's headquarters town of Normal, Illinois, last month. The well-attended event was the perfect location to complete interviews for the NAMM Oral History collection. In all, 13 new interviews were added to the project thanks in large part to the assistance of NAPBIRT's Executive Director, Bill Mathews, and Allied Supply's very own Craig Anderson. These two men, along with many others, helped us arrange the interviews with several veterans of instrument repair, including Yamaha's Senior Technical Manager Wayne Tanabe; Badger State Repair & Supply Owner Ed Strege; flute pad innovator David Straubinger; Fox Product's Instrument Specialist Chip Owen; and Kilgard Instrument Repair Founder Frank Kilgard. We are pleased to add these and eight other NAPBIRT members to the growing Oral History Program collection!
