NAMM Reaches Recreational Music Makers Online
New site geared toward educating people of all ages about the many health benefits of making music for the fun of it.
The new Recreational Music Making site at rmm.namm.org was officially launched at a session on January 19, 2007, during the NAMM Show. Linked from the existing namm.org site, NAMM now reaches out to people of all ages with this expanded RMM section highlighting the many health-related benefits of playing just for the fun of it—in an effort to grow the market of music makers. Reports on music education are complemented with tips for the burgeoning older adult market segment, which is eagerly seeking out recreational pastimes that help promote good health, reduce stress and provide new social opportunities.
Aimed at consumers, the new RMM section features larger, easier-to-read displays that cover breaking news on RMM-related issues, highlight the health benefits of music making, spotlight scientific studies on music making and wellness, and provide a dealer locator so visitors can contact their local NAMM retailers and RMM facilitators.
Visitors will also learn about the many different kinds of RMM opportunities, from drum circles and stress-reduction music clinics to organized senior classes. By changing the focus from expertise to pure enjoyment, RMM provides music product retailers and manufacturers alike with countless new possibilities for marketing their products and growing their clientele.
However, rmm.namm.org serves a dual purpose—in addition to the main section for the general public about health benefits, there is a portion just for the industry that can be accessed only by using a NAMM Member number. This links industry members to programs and other resources available to help extend marketing messages to targeted audiences, including media, educators, the healthcare/wellness industry and consumers worldwide.
Check it out at rmm.namm.org and be sure to recommend it to customers, teachers and other outside contacts as a fun, social way to relieve stress and promote wellness.
