NAMM ANNOUNCES 2008 SUMMER NAMM EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS

CARLSBAD, Calif., March 18, 2008—NAMM, the trade association of the international music products industry, today announced its NAMM University schedule of events offered free to Members attending Summer NAMM, held June 20-22, 2008, in Nashville, Tenn.

NAMM is featuring a variety of business-enhancing sessions starting with its ever-popular free Breakfast Sessions each morning at 8 a.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Renaissance Nashville Hotel where top industry professionals share the opportunities and challenges facing the industry today.

Then a variety of free educational sessions will take place each day in the NAMM Idea Center every 30 minutes, offering attendees new business tactics and “best practices” to take back home with them. Topics will focus on sales and marketing, technology, e-commerce, customer service, training and more.

Two of this year’s NAMM U sessions feature speaker Elly Valas, co-author of Guerrilla Retailing and president and CEO of Valas Consulting Group, LLC. The consultancy serves retailers and closely held entrepreneurial business owners, as well as the vendors who supply them. Its mission is to help clients build progressive, profitable businesses, increase their market share and take their businesses to the next level. Elly offers music dealers a fresh perspective on building their retail business.

In addition, Sunday at the show offers a full lineup of Web and technology-oriented sessions to help build NAMM Members’ knowledge and skills in the changing world of e-commerce.

The breakfast sessions kick off Friday with the third-annual Summer NAMM State of the Industry Address where Joe Lamond, NAMM president and CEO, will explore the current state of the industry and discuss the trends, challenges and opportunities that will influence the music products community during the second half of the year and beyond.

The following days’ Breakfast Sessions will feature:

  • The presentation from Valas on the topic of “Guerrilla Retailing: Unconventional Ways to Make Big Profits from Your Retail Business” on Saturday
  • “Best in Show: This Year’s Hottest Products,” with Music Inc. publisher Frank Alkyer and his panel of retail buyers, media and gear heads who highlight thousands of exciting new products at the show on Sunday.

The NAMM Idea Center is located at Booth #837. Attendees will receive a free Idea Book and can fill out a survey for a chance to win a $100 gift card.
