Music Education Days
NAMM invites you to join us as we celebrate your vital role as teachers, musical mentors and community leaders at the third annual "Music Education Days" being held this summer during the 2010 Summer NAMM Show in Nashville, Tenn., the music products industry's mid-year gathering from June 18-20, 2010.
Music educators are encouraged to see and try the many instruments and products on display and to participate in the "Best Tools for Schools" recognition program, nominating those products most relevant and useful to today’s music classrooms. Symphony Publishing, developers of the program, will announce these selected products on Sunday in the Idea Center on the trade show floor.
Music Education Days events will also provide teachers an opportunity to interact with each other and industry professionals, and address mutual concerns about access to music education for all children.
According to a music educator after her visit to the NAMM Show, "Having an opportunity to visit the show floor and talk to the vendors about their products was invaluable. We brought back a number of new ideas that will be very helpful to our program which we otherwise would not have found."
Highlights of "Music Education Days" include:
- "Making the Most of the NAMM Show Experience" welcome breakfast receptions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings
- Friends of NAMM Foundation reception on Saturday afternoon
- Announcement of "Best Tools for Schools," presented by SBO Magazine/Symphony Publishing Group
- "The Music Instinct: Science and Song", showcasing this PBS special and related activity guide
- "Teaching Guitar Workshop: adding guitar to the music curriculum"
- "Discover Bluegrass: American roots music in the classroom"
