NAMM Committee Releases Latest Version of Industry Standards

NAMM’s Ad-Hoc Technology Committee released another two components of its business-to-business technology standards for the music products industry. These documents, the Invoice Document and Item Document are key components of the XML-based industry standard, which has been dubbed Version "2007.1." Previously published documents include the Purchase Order Document, Functional Acknowledgement Document and the Advanced Shipping Notice Document.

NAMM Committee Adds New Component of Industry Standards

NAMM’s Ad-Hoc Technology Committee released another component of its business-to-business technology standards for the music products industry. This document, the Advanced Shipment Notice (ASN), is a key component of the XML-based industry standard, which has been dubbed "Version 2007.1".

The committee met at Summer NAMM in Austin to put the finishing touches on the ASN document. The committee is also working to add additional documents to the specifications. These additional components are expected to be published later this year.

NAMM Announces William R. Gard Scholarship Winners

NAMM, the trade association of the international music products industry, announced today that Joseph Perry, a graduating senior at John H. Pitmin High School in Turlock, Calif., and Zach Morris, a student at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center from Flagstaff, Ariz., are the recipients of the William R. Gard Memorial Scholarship.

NAMM Hits the Road for Town Hall Meetings with the Industry in Five U.S. Cities

NAMM, the trade association of the international music products industry, announced today its plans for a five-state NAMM Town Hall Meeting Tour to engage industry retailers and professionals in constructive discussions about how NAMM can best serve its Members and the MI industry.

The meetings are based on the successful outcomes of the 2006 Town Hall Meeting held in Michigan, where NAMM Members were able to discuss important issues facing their businesses in person with NAMM representatives outside of the NAMM Show setting.

NAMM Forms Ad-Hoc Technology Committee to Develop Industry Standards

NAMM, the International Music Products Association, hosted the first meeting of its recently formed Ad-hoc Technology Committee, which will address business-to-business (B2B) technology standards for the industry.

This committee, formed earlier this year, met at industry headquarters in Carlsbad during August to begin drafting solutions to improve industry commerce.

The committee’s progress and results will be tracked and published on NAMM’s B2B micro-site at http://b2b.namm.org, which is open to all NAMM Members.

China International Music Market: A Brand-New Event for the Music Products Industry to be Held in Beijing in May 2007

A brand-new event for the MI industry has been announced for May 2007 in Beijing: CIMM – China International Music Market. Positioned as a "player's show" for the domestic China market, CIMM will bring instrument makers and suppliers from all over the world together with musicians, dealers and retailers from Beijing and the northern part of China.

NAMM Director Appointed to Two Arts Advocacy Committees

NAMM, the International Music Products Association, announced today that Mary L. Luehrsen, director of Public Affairs and Government Relations, has been named to the advocacy committee of the International Society for Music Education (ISME) and the national steering committee of the Arts Education Partnership (AEP), representing NAMM’s Membership and the music products industry.

Luehrsen will serve on the ISME advocacy commission from 2006 to 2008. This six-person commission is devoted to music education advocacy and policy to further ISME’s overall mission of stimulating music education as an integral part of general education worldwide.
