College students majoring in music are invited to attend the “NAMM Generation Next” program at the 2013 NAMM Show to take advantage of industry professional development and networking opportunities. Higher education music faculty members are also invited to attend.
Nearly 1,100 music business majors from around the country converged at the 2012 NAMM Show, for valuable one-on-one time with the industry they hope to work in. Generation Next students attended a variety of classes in The NAMM Foundation Learning Lounge. Three hundred students received the certificate of completion by attending all recommended classes, including the popular session “How to Get a Job in the Industry.”
This year’s highlights include:
- Morning motivational sessions featuring Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser of Attitude Concepts, Inc. and others
- Educational programs which provide real-world advice to students
- Volunteer opportunities for hands on experience that is great for resume building
- Admission to all Music Education Days professional development sessions that offer a behind-the-scenes look at the most effective and relevant approaches to teaching music today and the innovative products that make playing music fun
“These college students may be future leaders of this industry and the next generation of NAMM Members,” said Joe Lamond, NAMM president and CEO. “An educated, innovative and passionate pipeline of new folks coming into the industry is critical to the health of our membership. This program benefits our manufacturer and retail members alike.”
