Andertons Music Co. Aids in Fight Against Teenage Cancer
NAMM Member, Andertons Music Co., announced a charity initiative to raise funds dedicated to the fight against teenage cancer. The UK-based retailer will be raffling off 19 signed and highly sought-after guitars, with proceeds going to the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Update: At the conclusion of the campaign, Andertons Music Co. raised £117,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
The family ran business located in Guildford, Surrey, England, was founded in 1964. Between the brick-and-mortar location and an engaging online store, Andertons Music Co. offers customers more than 20,000 products from over 400 brands. Equally as impressive is the Andertons TV YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/c/andertons) which has over 700,000 subscribers worldwide. Andertons has been a supporter of the Teenage Cancer Trust since 2017. The Teenage Cancer Trust is the only group of its kind in the UK dedicated to ensuring teens don’t have to face cancer alone. Like many charities, the Teenage Cancer Trust has seen a reduction in fundraising since the start of the COVID-19 lockdown. Despite this, the team at the trust is committed to continuing their invaluable work.
As the largest teenage cancer initiative to date for Andertons, the guitars set for the raffle were featured on Andertons TV over the years, and some include signatures of increasingly well-known ‘Captain Anderton and Danish Pete,’ stars of the channel. The fundraiser, which kicked off February 20, 2021, has already raised almost £100,000 and will remain open until March 22, when winners will be drawn at 10 pm GMT. Lee Anderton, third-generation Anderton to lead the store, said, “Teenage Cancer Trust is an incredible charity, doing hugely important work. No teen should have to face cancer, but with TCT to support them, it can be a little more bearable. This amazing work, along with the charity’s musical heritage, means that TCT is a charity that I, and every member of the Andertons team, are so proud to support.”
