In 2011, NAMM began recognizing the efforts of its most creative and proactive retail Members with The Top 100 Dealer Awards, and it quickly became a Summer NAMM tradition, as well as a great way to share best practices.
Dubbed the "retail Oscars" by Music Inc. magazine, NAMM created the awards to spotlight the industry's most proactive and innovative music retailers. In addition to choosing the Top 100, an independent panel of anonymous industry peers also selects winners in 10 "Best Of" categories, as well as the prestigious "Dealer of the Year" award.
"No one works harder than the local community music store," says NAMM President and CEO Joe Lamond, "and it's an honor to pay tribute to those who go out every day and help customers realize their musical dreams."
On March 1, 2013, NAMM will once again open the competition to NAMM Member retailers, whether they run a small mom and pop store or a chain of several successful retail outlets. Being recognized as a Top 100 Dealer definitely has its perks. In addition to opportunities for local and national news media, the "Best Of" winners receive a profile in NAMM's PLAYback magazine. At the show, Top 100 winners also receive special ribbons for their badges and window decals for their stores, acknowledging them as one of the industry's premiere retail outlets.
