How School Music Retailers Can Capitalize on Summer NAMM
As your industry association, NAMM can help you grow your business in 2018 and beyond. That’s why the School Band and Orchestra Community has a home at Summer NAMM, with focused educational sessions, a dedicated product area, networking and events to help you stay competitive in today’s ever-changing market.
Focused Sessions for School Music Retailers
The all-new Retail Training Summit, happening the day before the show, will feature six tracks, all tailor-made for school music retailers. This mini-conference is free for NAMM members and relevant for your entire team, but you must reserve your seat! You can do that here.
Once the show starts, don’t miss the NAMM U Breakfast Sessions each morning, featuring a free, hot meal and big ideas that are readymade for school music retailers. Thursday will feature “Retail Innovators,” hosted by NAMM President and CEO Joe Lamond, and Friday’s session with marketing guru Marcus Sheridan will discuss “How to Become a Digital Powerhouse.” Saturday will close with “Best in Show,” revealing the biggest products at 2018 Summer NAMM.

A Dedicated Space for SBO Products
School band and orchestra products will be displayed in a dedicated area on the Summer NAMM show floor, showcasing a wide variety of instruments and accessories for a robust back-to-school rental season.
“At the Summer NAMM show, we always find great add-ons and accessories that both add value to our instrument rental program and boost our bottom line,” said Dealer of the Year, Robert Christie of A&G Central Music in Madison Heights, Michigan. “The relaxed pace of the summer show affords us the chance to strengthen relationships and explore new opportunities. Last year, we partnered with a boutique line of wind instruments that is now paying great dividends. As an SBO dealer, we never know what we’ll find at Summer NAMM but it’s ALWAYS something good. That’s why it’s a can’t-miss event for Central Music!”
Mingling for Music Retailers
Many NAMM members tell us that the valuable conversations at the shows are one of the main reasons why they continue to have a thriving business and remain profitable.
These connections are easy at Summer NAMM with a variety of networking events and receptions. The NAMM Opening Night Party and 35th Annual American Eagle Awards is a great place to casually network over light fare and kick off Summer NAMM on Thursday evening.
Other connection spots include the R&B lounge, providing a quiet space just for members to meet with suppliers and conduct meetings.
The Top 100 Dealer Awards is incredibly valuable to school music retailers as the “Oscars” for Music Retail. Come cheer on your peers as they compete for the coveted Dealer of the Year title, along with eight other winning categories, and hear their success stories on how they grew their businesses this past year.
All this and more is waiting for you at Summer NAMM. Make sure to register and book your hotel today!
