In the isolated town of Clancy, Montana, singer/guitarist Dan Murphy and guitarist Justin Benner met in the third grade, and then spent their formative years writing and recording music together. During the next decade, Murphy and Benner played over 400 shows across the States, released a record in Japan, and built a loyal, regional following before making their exodus to Los Angeles in 2010. While Benner refined his skills as the band’s engineer and producer, they began playing with drummer Tim Spier in August of 2010, who they had met while touring with his former Drive-Thru Records band, Say No More. Together, they wrote the honest and melodic songs that would become The Goodnight’s debut EP “Keep Control.” Another former tour buddy, bassist Miles Franco, relocated from San Jose to join the band in March 2013.
The Goodnight remains active in the Los Angeles music scene and on the road, touring regionally and showcasing at festivals such as South By South West in Texas, as well as having music featured on a Playstation commercial and major television networks E!, MTV, A&E, Lifetime, TLC, and VH1. The band recently released the digital single “In The Moment” on May 7th, 2013, which received airplay from many college and mainstream radio stations throughout the country.
The Goodnight will be touring the West Coast this November in support of their sophomore release titled "Owlbum," - available November 4th, 2014.
