Paul Cannon Band
Promoting peace, harmony and good vibes, Paul Cannon is beloved by fans for his honest approach to recording and performing music. Blending elements of folk, beach rock and pop, the San Diego native delivers guitar-driven melodies that demand attention for their catchy hooks and earnest lyrical delivery.
Paul took his first step into the professional music world in 2007, when he earned a spot among American Idol’s Top 50 contestants. In addition to working with a myriad of issue-oriented organizations, Paul encourages listeners to support several wide-scale issues, ranging from supporting locally grown food to raising cancer awareness.
Paul Cannon Band’s debut EP Organic was released in the summer of 2011. Shortly after its release, San Diego’s radio station 102.1 KPRi selected the group’s forthcoming key single “Homegrown” for feature in a television commercial that ran on local stations throughout the fall of 2012. The bump in exposure and the positive theme of “Homegrown” provided a perfect springboard for Paul Cannon Band’s first album Homegrown, released in the spring of 2013. The release of new material and the continued success of “Homegrown” gave Paul the unique opportunity to partner with the San Diego Padres and coordinate the release of “Homegrown Padre’s Version” and its corresponding video. Featuring Paul and a few of the team’s top players, the specialized “Homegrown” music video plays at the Padre’s home field Petco Park after every win. In 2014 the success of Homegrown spilled back onto local TV stations. With Fox Sports San Diego making a similar video as the Padres the SD Padres affiliates began performing the video after every game on their local network.
In the year following Homegrown’s release, Paul continued exercising his songwriting muscle through collaborations with fellow San Diego artists Jason Mraz and Michael Natter. The trio’s efforts resulted in the creation of “It’s About Us,” the title track of X Factor winners Alex & Sierra’s debut album which has quickly risen to top of the charts in 8 countries. In addition to his side projects, Paul remains dedicated to the band he created, performing as leader of Paul Cannon Band at local hotspots to share good vibes and great music with fans and new listeners alike.
In its 7-year existence, Paul Cannon Band has supported a number of nationally and internationally renowned acts including; Brett Dennen, The Wallflowers, Jason Mraz, Tristan Prettyman, Walk the Moon, Matt Nathanson, Justin Nozuka, Venice, Augustana, Dick Dale, The Dunwells and Matisyahu.
Paul Cannon’s latest single “Thinking Bout You” was recently nominated Song of the Year at the 2014 San Diego Music Awards.
