Katie Thiroux is a bassist and vocalist of outstanding talent and determination. Coming from a musical family in Los Angeles, she started violin at age 4, switching to acoustic bass at age 8. She began a mentorship with world-renowned bassist John Clayton at the age of 12 and has since performed at jazz festivals and venues around the world.
The Katie Thiroux Quartet features saxophonist Roger Neumann, drummer Matt Witek and guitarist Graham Dechter. Their most recent album was released in February 2015 and was produced by GRAMMY award winner Jeff Hamilton.
Katie’s swinging bass, clear vocals and inspired instrumental arrangements are reflective of her musical idols: Ray Brown, Oscar Peterson, Chet Baker and Anita O’Day. Thiroux’s knowledge, perseverance and fervor for music make her a rising force in today’s scene.
