The World’s 1st iOS-Powered Travel Guitar will be exhibited at NAMM 2018

Elga Guitars

Elga Guitars will show their first guitar on NAMM 2018. Travel size acoustic guitar with built-in piezo pickup and audio interface won the freedom of movement by attaching iOS device such as iPhone directly to the body. The player can output sound from earphones or mobile speakers with AUX IN. So it can be played with extremely minor equipment.

Masao Nishina, founder of Elga Guitars said “Unlike its image, electric guitar has never been free at all. To produce professional sounds, we needed a lot of equipment like a mountain, and the truck was more suitable for moving than the car. Our guitar incorporates piezo pickup and audio interface in travel size acoustic guitar. By directly attaching an iOS device such as iPhone or iPod, it releases the electric guitar from the studio as if the Sony's walkman unleashed music in front of a heavy amplifier and speaker.”

The player can use iOS applications provided by a third party such as amp & pedal simulator, DAW, looper, backup band simulator, tab score viewer, gaming lesson, tuner, mixer using multiple applications simultaneously, audio to MIDI synthesizer, etc.

There are lots of amazing apps for iOS for guitar players, but it has not spread to popularity as it is forced to place the device far from the player’s fingers to operate. Our guitar always has a screen on hand by fixing the device with the magnet on the side of the guitar. So, it will promote further popularization of iOS applications.

This guitar is suitable for young beginners, party bands, basking, of course, for traveling. The player can practice with excellent methods and sounds anytime, anywhere, so he/she can be a good player in a short period of time.

The founder also said “I remember the first time I got on the usual train with Sony's WALKMAN. The familiar scenery of the train window seemed to be a movie with background music. I also found that Dylan is nice when taking a bus. Apple's iPod also changed the world. When shuffling the library of thousands of songs, I thought that the best DJ exclusive to me appeared. So music gained freedom of movement. But still music production is not leaving the studio due to the anchor of heavy equipment and electrical power.

Elga Guitars created the guitar world WALKMAN by attaching an iPhone to a travel size guitar. This is the reinvention of the guitar in the era of mobiles. Guitar sound acquired freedom of movement. With Elga Guitars, future guitar music will reflect the local wind, the smell of the earth, the brightness of the day and the temperature and humidity, in short, the roots more.”

Elga Guitar will launch a crowdfunding campaign on INDIEGOGO.
