Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Audio Educators and Students have three days of sessions just for them during AES Academy 2020. Insights into the fundamentals of audio training and into innovations in teaching the audio arts to both high school and college students will be presented by leading audio education professionals. Friday is Warren Huart's 'Produce Like A Pro' multi-track sessions; Saturday has four specific 2-hour manufacturer sessions; Sunday Tony Schultz presents panels on Higher Education and Studio Careers.
- Audio Science & Technology
Core and advanced technical topics will be presented under the Audio Science & Technology banner. One-hour sessions on specially curated topics will take place throughout the day.
- Control Room Academy
On Thursday four two-hour training sessions will dig deep into recording studio control room acoustics, geometry and application of leading technologies.
- In-Ear Monitoring Academy
Hosted by in-ear monitor touring professional Mark Frink, the In-Ear Monitor Academy sessions will cover all aspects of IEM fundamentals including the use of wireless IEM systems, mixing monitors for IEMs, hearing conservation and best practices. All four days, free hearing screening and free digital IEM ear scans by Ultimate Ears will be available in the AES Academy registration area on the Hilton’s fourth floor.
- Line Array Academy
All Four Days
Leading line array manufacturers will each introduce and instruct Line Array Loudspeaker System Academy attendees on the operational details of their latest line-array offerings. These sessions will present the line array's design, theory and supporting software components in a small classroom format. Bringing the boom is the focus of the newly developed Electronic Dance Music (EDM) Academy on Saturday.

AES Academy attendees have the opportunity to learn from industry-leading FOH mix engineers in an intimate, casual and extremely informative series of events.
- Main Stage: Studio
Highly acclaimed producer, engineer, author and technologist Bobby Owsinski, returns the AES Academy Main Stage: Studio for a series of special sessions. Owsinski will offer practical advice and insider tips towards improving recordings and mixes, along with insights into the recording arts and studio etiquette backed by decades of experience.
- Measurement & Optimization Academy
Thursday, Friday, Saturday
Charlie Hughes of Excelsior Audio, AFMG’s Bruce Olson, Rational Acoustics’ Jamie Anderson and Chris Tsanjouries, and iSEMcon’s Wolfgang Frank will provide expert advice on analyzing sound systems and maximizing system performance.
- Microphone Academy
Studio applications of microphones will be explored during the Microphone Academy sessions. Featured sessions will cover DPA Microphones’ piano, orchestra and choir mic solutions, Townsend Labs’ virtual microphone and Royer Labs’ ribbon mics.
- House of Worship Academy
Houses of Worship face unique challenges when deploying audio technology, ranging from volunteer operators and amateur talent to acoustic and budgetary issues. These specifically targeted sessions will focus on worship application of mixing consoles and wireless systems.
- Wireless Academy
Led off by an in-depth analysis of the RF spectrum issues that affect wireless microphone and IEM applications, the Wireless Academy sessions will also cover the interaction between performer and microphone as well as the technical considerations and good engineering practices when deploying both large and small wireless systems.
- Live Console Academy
All Four Days
Popular live digital consoles from leading manufacturers will be introduced and taught by their instructors to Live Mixing Console Academy attendees. Technical partners Yamaha and Allen & Heath will host half-day hands-on console training sessions to include operational details of their live digital mixers, as well as features of their latest software versions.
