Americana, rock, folk, singer-songwriter Andy Sydow is a jack-of-all-trades. As an accomplished multi-instrumentalist who's lyrics paint a picture of poetic realism, Sydow tours consistently both solo and with a backing band. Throughout the course of a show he’s known to croon an audience with acoustic guitar ballads, rip a slide guitar solo, and even sit down at the keys to show off his surprising boogie-woogie piano chops. He draws comparisons to voices like Paul Simon and Jackson Browne, mixed with a roots rock vibe reminiscent of Tom Petty or Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats.
Sydow has had the opportunity to open for acts such as Chuck Prophet, Brett Dennen, Samantha Fish, Shane Smith & The Saints, Dick Dale, Koe Wetzel, Chase Rice, Tab Benoit, and Anders Osborne. He was also named a finalist in the 2021 International Songwriting Competition, the 2021 Kerrville Grassy Hill New Folk Songwriting Competition, the Fall 2020 Durango Songwriters Expo Song Competition, and the 2021 Acorn Songwriters Competition.
He's toured internationally and received accolades from LA Music Critic and No Depression. On top of that, 2021 saw the release of nearly a dozen tracks Sydow produced for other artists, including Lauren Frihauf and Payge Turner (The Voice, Season 19).
In July of 2021, Sydow recorded a full length album with Anders Osborne at Dockside Studios in Maurice, LA. Osborne produced as well as played guitar and sang backing vocals. Mike Dillion provided the percussion, and Casandra Faulconer completed the quartet on bass. The album does not yet have a release date.
Sydow also dipped his toes back into life on the road in 2021, embarking on a solo tour around the Midwest. The “Dirty 30 Baseball Tour” took place between mid-August and mid-September and featured 17 shows and 6 baseball games across 7 states, along with Andy's 30th birthday, and the release of a new EP (Time Stands Between).
The EP features three songs that Andy considers to be some of his best writing to date. The first single from the release, "Alibi" is receiving radio play nationally, and though not his first song to be played on FM stations, it is his first to receive air time on AAA radio.
When he's not touring, writing, or recording, Sydow spends time talking to other creatives and music industry professionals on his podcast, Middle Class Rock Star. The hour"ish" long weekly program comes out every Thursday on all streaming platforms, as well as 30 FM stations around Colorado (via Chris K's Colorado Playlist). MCRS has played host to the likes of: Andy Frasco, Dango Rose (Elephant Revival), Jeremy Lawton (Big Head Todd & The Monsters), Todd Smallie (Derek Trucks, JJ Grey & Mofro), Mickey Raphael (Willie Nelson), Leftover Salmon, and Phil Cook.
