Big Blu Soul Revue bring the soul of California to their music and live shows. With an extreme passion for 60’s and 70’s soul, funk and jazz, the band shares music influences ranging from soul legends like Stevie Wonder, Sly Stone, Aretha Franklin, Bill Withers and Marvin Gaye to funk and jazz artists like The Meters, Herbie Hancock, Grant Green and many more. Their fresh approach brings a wide array of infectious dance grooves to their high-energy live show. The band’s latest release, Tongue & Groovin’, is available now for purchase and on all major music streaming platforms.

The band was formed in 2012 by Bay Area guitarist and vocalist, Jason Movrich (The Mission Players, Jason Movrich & Friends). The band is comprised of a tight group of top notch musicians… featuring the amazing sounds of vocalist, Lydia Walker.

The band’s music is strongly influenced by the classic sounds of Motown, Stax, Daptones and Blue Note Records but with a fresh and original spin. “Our ultimate goal is to connect with our audience, get you to feel the groove that makes you want to dance,” says Movrich.

Big Blu Soul Revue has live shows planned throughout the West Coast for the entire 2022. The band is currently working on new material for their next release, tentatively scheduled for late 2022 release. The band has previously performed throughout the West Coast to strong and enthusiastic audiences, at festivals such as the Stern Grove Festival, Gilroy Garlic Festival, Bay Area Blues Festival, Fog Fest, Union Square Live, For the Funk Of It Festival… and has performed at famed Northern California venues such as The Masonic Auditorium, Great American Music Hall, Slim’s, Yoshi’s, Sweetwater Music Hall, Blue Note Napa, Cafe Du Nord, Boom Boom Room, deYoung Museum, Ashkenaz, Lagunitas Taproom and many more. The band has also recently shared stages and co-bills with The Revolution (Prince), Fred Wesley (former band leader of James Brown’s band), Glen David Andrews, Jelly Bread, and a recent performance as the backing band for actor/musician Jim Belushi.
