Essra Mohawk enjoyed writing songs since she was a little girl! She learned the ability to express the feelings so many of us have about love and happiness using music. Her songs have been recorded by artists such as Tina Turner, the Shangri-Las, Vanilla Fudge and Cyndi Lauper, among others. She wrote and sang on several School House Rock songs including “Sufferin’ ‘til Suffrage” about the women’s suffrage movement and the catchy “Interjection” song. She also sang with Frank Zappa’s band for a while and can be heard on the theme for “Teeny Little Super Guy”, a segment on the children’s television program, Sesame Street.
