This audio only interview was conducted for a radio program by Dan Del Fiorentino and donated to the NAMM Oral History program: Warren Vaché Sr. was a jazz bassist and author whose son, Warren Vache Jr., is a noted jazz cornetist. Warren started out on drums but was asked to switch to bass as there was a demand for upright bassists in New York at the time. During his career, he performed with Doc Cheatham and Murray Davison among others. Warren took to documenting the jazz around him in a series of magazine articles and later books on unsung jazzman such as "This Horn for Hire: The Life and Career of Pee Wee Erwin" and "Crazy Fingers: Claude Hopkin's Life in Jazz."
