David Rosenthal

David Rosenthal, keyboardist and musical director started working with Billy Joel in 1993. Before that he played with acts including Happy The Man, Steve Vai, Whitesnake, Rainbow, Little Steven, Cyndi Lauper, Robert Palmer, and Enrique Iglesias.
For over a decade, David has been correcting Billy Joel’s entire sheet-music catalog for Hal Leonard, “a monumental job,” he revealed in 2011. “Believe it or not, songs like ‘Piano Man’ were missing measures and had wrong notes and wrong chords, so much of it was horribly wrong. Billy said, ‘Before I die, I want to know my sheet music is all accurate and correct.’”
So far Hal Leonard has published Piano Man, Turnstiles, The Stranger, 52nd Street, The Nylon Curtain, Glass Houses, An Innocent Man, Storm Front, and Greatest Hits Volume I & II, and most recently David’s tenth book, River of Dreams.  “I’m going album by album and working my way through the whole catalog.”
