He worked for Hoover Music in Jackson, Michigan and later for Schroeder Piano before James Mixter hired him as sales manager for the Baldwin Piano Company in Cincinnati, Ohio. His territory for the company was large as it included Wyoming, South Dakota, Kansas, Colorado and parts of Missouri.
