The NAMM Foundation works to advance active participation in music making across the lifespan by supporting scientific research, philanthropic giving and public service programs from the international music products industry. The Support Music Coalition was formed in 2003 by NAMM in collaboration with the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). A public service initiative that educates and supports grassroots advocacy for music education in local communities around the United States and abroad, SupportMusic unites over 2,000 national, regional and international organizations and nearly 5,000 individuals seeking to improve access and opportunity in music and arts learning. Tens of thousands of concerned citizens visit the website every month and use its resources to keep music education strong in their schools and communities. Library and Resource Center
Established in 1946 when NAMM was only 45 years old, the NAMM Resource Center provides Members, the media, academic researchers and the general public with access to the industry historical data from more than a century of NAMM research, records and archives and more than 1,000 videotaped interviews with people who have shaped the industry. The broader scope of the collections is the history of the music products industry, categorized into five main subject categories:
- NAMM History
- Manufacturer History
- Retail History
- Music History (especially as it pertains to instrument and product innovations)
- Legacy Collections
NAMM Foundation's public service announcement (PSA) campaign themed "Just PLAY" is now airing on hundreds of TV and radio stations nationwide. NAMM Members are welcome to share or embed the PSA on their websites and social media, play the "Twinkle" video in stores or print out posters. There are no more excuses not to play music!
