The Geometry of Music Career Planning: Building the Arcs

Let’s consider another approach to how we plan and prepare for careers in music. In this session, we will discuss how aspiring musicians and music professionals, as well as educators, can more effectively design learning paths to better prepare anyone for work in an ever-changing industry. I’ll demonstrate how students can visualize their futures in a more flexible and strategic manner and how teachers can better shape curriculum based on extended considerations. Looking at existing research and case studies, participants will understand how designing a more sustainable life in music based on “career arcs” can ensure better and longer-term success.
