Oscar Barcelli is a musician, drummer, composer, arranger and educator born in Lima Peru. He began his musical studies in Peru for a year and then went to Sao Paulo, Brazil to study for two years at the most prestigious music school in South America, Faculdade Souza Lima & Berklee. After two successful years learning Brazilian music and jazz with the most renowned musicians on the Paulista scene, he decided to go to Boston to study at the most prestigious music school in the world, Berklee College of Music. Oscar was awarded an 80% scholarship to cover his studies due to his extraordinary talent on his instrument. In addition to that scholarship, Oscar was awarded the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation Scholarship for three consecutive years. Oscar had the opportunity to win for 3 consecutive years and thus become an ambassador for the foundation. Oscar graduated with honors from Berklee with a concentration in music performance. During his time in Peru, Brazil, and the United States, Oscar had the opportunity to work with world-renowned musicians such as Kurt Elling, Jo Lawry, Russell Taylor, Juancarlos Fernandez, Deedee Bridgewater, Sofia Carson, Rafa Sardina, Oscar Stagnaro, Claudio Ragazzi, among others. . In 2017, he represented Peru at The Jazz Education Network Conference, the largest Jazz event of all. In this Festival, Oscar accompanied The Jazz Groove Big band, the best Big Band in Peru, directed by Angel Irujo. Jazz Groove fused Afro-Peruvian music with Jazz and presented a unique and special show at the JEN Festival. The most important event that Oscar has participated was this year at The 20TH Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards, in Las Vegas. Oscar was invited by the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation to appear with Sofia Carson, actress, model and singer at the gala ceremony honoring the artist of the year, Juanes. Oscar traveled to Las Vegas and put on a perfect show and received rave reviews from producers, musicians and artists. On this occasion, he had the honor of sharing the stage with renowned musicians and GRAMMY winners such as Rosalia, Alejandro Sanz, Mon Laferte, Ozuna, Jesse & Joy, Juanes, Fito Paez, Sebastian Yatra, Orianthi, Morat, Juan Luis Guerra, among others. In addition, he was part of the Latin GRAMMY ceremony, which is considered the most important event of Latin American music of the year. Oscar was presented by Ricky Martin as the future of Latin American music and had the honor of presenting the GRAMMY to Alejandro Sanz, in the category of Best Recording of the Year. In 2021 he released his first album called "King's Lockdown" which combines Afro Peruvian rhythms with Jazz. It is an album of 7 songs, 5 of which are own compositions and 2 arrangements. He is currently in Los Angeles, where he works on various projects with great artists in places like Disney California Adventures, The Scientology Church, Moonshine Beach, Moonshine Flats, among others.
