Executive Order Seeks to Expand Health Insurance Plans Largely Exempt from ACA Regulations
During the first week of October, President Trump signed an executive order directing the HSS, Labor and Treasure secretaries to consider ways to expand insurance offerings that are not subject to many of the ADA’s regulations. The order itself makes no direct changes, but as various departments decide on the details through the normal rulemaking process, the proposed direction could eventually lead to substantial shifts in the health insurance market. As you may know, in 2010 President Obama signed into law the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) – robust and landmark health care legislation designed to ensure Americans have access to quality, affordable health insurance.
