NAMM Celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week with Free Admission to the Museum of Making Music for Educators
In addition, teachers nationwide can receive complimentary curriculum from the Museum’s Make Music Happen program for students K-12

CARLSBAD, CALIF., May 1, 2025 – NAMM (The National Association of Music Merchants), the largest global not-for-profit music trade organization, announced in celebration of National Teacher Day and National Teacher Appreciation Week that it will be offering free admission to its Museum of Making Music for all teachers during the first part of May. Kicking off on National Teacher Day, Tuesday, May 6, through Sunday, May 11, 2025, all teachers with a valid ID will receive free admission to visit the recently renovated Carlsbad-based museum to discover a world of music and music making.
“We believe that teachers can inspire hope, ignite imagination and install a love a learning for all students, especially in the areas of music,” said John Mlynczak, NAMM president and CEO and former educator. “This is a small gesture of our appreciation for the teaching profession — they are the ones who push students to believe in themselves and lead them to the next level.”
A signature program of The NAMM Foundation, the Museum of Making Music takes visitors on an immersive journey of musical exploration and discovery as told through instruments, artifacts and multimedia displays featuring video stories, photographs, performance clips and interviews from instrument creators, artists and industry innovators. Inside the Museum’s four galleries, guests experience key themes of “Making the Instruments,” “Providing the Instruments,” “Using the Instruments” and “Beyond the Instruments,” and develop a greater knowledge of how instrument creators and external events have brought us the music we make and enjoy. Through educational programs, live performances and engaging events, the Museum provides the community with access to music-making opportunities across the lifespan and encourages visitors to discover their own place within music.
In addition, teachers can access the Museum of Making Music’s Make Music Happen K-12 Curriculum Program. In collaboration with the team at F-flat Books, the Museum has created a curriculum built upon the resources found throughout its galleries. This includes 16 lesson plans for both elementary and secondary students, worksheets, presentations, video and image assets that support the lessons with content from the museum. Teachers can access the curriculum here.
