Our Mission is:

To develop and promote best practice standards for electronic commerce that improve efficiency between trading partners in the global music products industry.

We will provide a neutral environment for open discussion, encourage collaboration between industry members and promote the continued evolution of electronic commerce.

The work of the committee is derived from NAMM's overall mission. Here is a section of NAMM's mission as it relates to technology:
 

General Objective #9
Technology: Assume an industry leadership role by identifying appropriate information systems and other cutting-edge technologies and providing educational and support services that enable all Members to benefit from them.

STRATEGIC DIRECTIONS:

9.1 Position NAMM as the industry's technology leader by focusing on areas such as EDI, barcoding, standards, Internet, etc.

9.2 NAMM should identify Members' needs in technology through survey research and other input processes.

9.3 NAMM should help Members to incorporate capabilities of the Internet, specifically, into their business strategies.

9.4 NAMM should be the "information clearinghouse" for those information technolgies most related to improving industry and Member productivity.

9.5 NAMM should identify technolgy applications in other inducstries that best "fit" the music products industry.

9.6 NAMM should take a leadership role in establishing, defining and standardizing industry information technology in the music products industry.

9.7 NAMM should act as an industry catalyst in the advancement of MIDI and other industry technology standards.
