Bluegrass Music blends Irish Folk Music with Appalachia Mountain Music, resulting in a unique American roots style sound. Most historians point to 1948 and the Bill Monroe band as the beginning, however, our interviewee Curly Seckler was performing very similar music as early as 1938.  Mr. Monroe certainly popularized the musical form with his band, which included two musicians interviewed for the NAMM Oral History program (Jimmy Martin and Earl Scruggs) helped define the genre.  This vignette provides six segments about Bluegrass from those we have interviewed over the years, Jimmy Martin (1927-2005), Richard Keldsen, Mac Wiseman, Ricky Skaggs, Earl Scruggs (1924-2012) and Curly Seckler.  Enjoy.
