Tim Miklaucic

Tim Miklaucic; If you had asked a college-aged Tim Miklaucic where he thought he’d be in 2018, it certainly wouldn’t be as a CEO & Founder of an industry-leading guitar company & member of the NAMM Board. Tim grew up playing music as a child, but he set the guitar aside for several years to pursue a preparatory education in medicine and later philosophy with a mind to teach. However, a few unexpected events shifted him back toward a career in music. While studying at UCSD, he was introduced to the Romeros, with whom he studied throughout his years there. In addition, Tim supported himself through college by selling classical guitars imported from Spain, and with the help of the Romeros he began to learn about the great master luthiers of the 19th and 20th centuries. Eventually, Tim’s “hobby-business” became Guitar Salon International, whose success eventually led to the creation of Córdoba Guitars in 1997. Córdoba’s name was inspired by the city of the same name in Spain, a place that captivated Tim because it served as a melting pot of multiple cultures, histories and religions. That inclusivity was an important tenant which he also wanted reflected in Cordoba Guitars, a company that was meant to be a melting point for the traditional nylon string player and all other guitar forms. He wanted Cordoba to be more than a classical or flamenco guitar, but rather a nylon stringed instrument on which nearly any type of music could be played. In 2014, Cordoba Music Group acquired the Guild brand from Fender, built a factory in Oxnard, California and has been breathing new life into the iconic brand ever since.
