Agostinho Rodrigues, affectionately known as Tico, combined his lifelong passion for guitars with his background in mechanical engineering to create a meaningful career centered around music, craftsmanship, and community. Raised in Porto, Portugal, Tico developed a deep appreciation for stringed instruments after receiving his first guitar from an uncle while still a baby. His fascination with the instrument eventually led him to study guitar making under a respected local violin luthier, further strengthening his connection to Portugal’s rich musical traditions. Alongside his wife Cristina, Tico founded Porto Guitarra in the heart of Porto, where the couple built a welcoming space dedicated to the repair, preservation, and sharing of traditional stringed instruments. During the global pandemic in 2020, Tico explored creative musical and cultural projects that reflected the unifying power of music during difficult times. He has also become known locally for imaginative holiday music videos created with customers and friends, all reflecting his joyful spirit and enduring dedication to bringing people together through music.
