Oral History Information
Felix Cavaliere is the Hammond B3 keyboardist and songwriter behind a string of popular songs recorded by the Young Rascals during the mid to late 1960s. Felix's understanding of musical structure and his flair for telling a story resulted in such classic songs as “People Got to Be Free,” “How Can I Be Sure,” “Groovin',” and “It’s A Beautiful Morning.” Felix began his professional career playing with Joey Dee and the Starliters before forming the Young Rascals in 1965. Later in his career, he recorded a solo album, which included the hit "Only a Lonely Heart Sees" (1980), toured with Ringo Starr, and performed with Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden in 2015. Four years later, Felix was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame in Nashville.
