Jerry Lard

Jerry Lard was a piano technician in the Muscle Shoals area of Northern Alabama. The region is famously known for its string of recording studios, where Jerry served as a trusted technician for more than 50 years. He tuned pianos for a number of music stores throughout the area, beginning with Forbes in Birmingham. After attending piano technician school in Georgia, Jerry found his way to Muscle Shoals, where he also provided tuning services for local colleges. Throughout his career, he earned a reputation for his craftsmanship, reliability, and dedication to the art of piano technology. Jerry held fond memories of his recording studio projects, including refinishing the now-famous Aretha Piano at FAME Studios and working closely with many renowned performers over the years, including Lou Rawls and Lynyrd Skynyrd. His contributions helped support countless performances and recordings, leaving a lasting legacy within the Muscle Shoals music community.
