Oral History Information

Jimmy Bowen is the successful record producer whose musical career began as a Rockabilly recording artist and songwriter. He formed a trio right out of high school and created a songwriting partnership with bandmate Buddy Knox. Together Bowen and Knox wrote such hits as “Party Doll” and “I’m Stickin’ With You.” With the help of Frank Sinatra, who hired Jimmy to help run Reprise Records, Jimmy began his second career as a record producer. Among the big hits of the 1960s that Jimmy produced were “Everybody Loves Somebody” by Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra’s “Strangers In the Night.” Jimmy also recorded dozens of demo records to help pitch new songs with his long-time friend, Glenn Campbell.
