John Denny

John Denny is a very active volunteer for NAMM’s Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad, California. If there is a tour, a special musical event, or a dulcimer that needs moving, John is your man! His passion for music started when he was young, playing trumpet in grade school and later in horn bands. While in college he began playing guitar, favoring the Ovation Guitar. Forming a duo with his brother, the two played coffee houses and clubs in South Carolina before John moved to California. He continued to perform, often with his wife in a trio. In 2020, after retirement, he began volunteering at the Museum of Making Music, where he not only provides tours but can often be found tuning and repairing the instruments in the museum’s interactive area.
