Musician

Larry Dougherty has always been grateful for the vast pool of great musicians who made up the swing bands of the 1940s and 50s. This allows so many to go on the road with a number of bands for amazing and often career-changing experiences. This was the case for Larry, who has played with the likes of Alvino Rey, Harry James, Guy Lombardo, and Dave Pell (among others). As a versatile saxophonist, Larry has also recorded and performed with such singers as Tony Bennett, Nancy Wilson, Mel Torme, and Helen Forrest. In the early 2000s, Larry joined the Big Band Alumni swing orchestra, where we caught up with him for his NAMM interview.
