Mitsuru Umemura is the eleventh President of the Yamaha Corporation. During his NAMM Oral History interview he provided details about the development of Yamaha beginning in 1887. He likes to explain the four main elements of Yamaha’s rich history beginning with the craftsmanship of instrument-making that offers customers “better products more efficiently.” Next is the development of electronic musical instruments beginning with the Electone in 1959. Third is the design early in the development of the company to create overseas markets. Fourth is the promotion to enjoy music and music making throughout their many educational programs over the years. Mr. Umemura is a strong supporter in archiving the rich history of our industry and has played an important role in the NAMM Oral History program.
