Robert Fleming was a longtime member of NAPBIRT, missing only a few annual meetings during his career as a repairman. He worked with Pete Valentino exploring how plastics could be used in instrument pads, such as those for the flute. Patrick’s Music hired Bob as their repairman, a role he greatly enjoyed, and in 1960 he decided to open his own repair shop. He kept the shop open for fifteen years before retiring. After his retirement, he continued to repair instruments for his longtime friends at Patrick’s Music.
