Susan Murray

Susan Murray has one of the most infectious smiles, especially when she is in the groove on stage playing her bass. With a deep passion for jazz, Susan has brought her talents to countless people, including children who she has inspired to make music on their own. Her father, Sam Goldhaber, was also a musician who took to the Theremin. In fact, the very instrument he played, an RCA 1920s model, stands proudly in NAMM’s Museum of Making Music thanks to Susan. She performed in the Palomar Jazz Band with Leo Adelman, who acquired the Dave Pell charts, as well as playing with other ensembles throughout California, such as the Coastal City Jazz Band. Susan was a close friend of jazz bassist Chubby Jackson, from whom she learned so much through his encouragement and support. She was also one of the first to own an Azola Bass, which she still plays today!
