Music Stores

Video

Music stores often serve as the first glimpse into the music industry for many of us.  They are the places we get our first instrument, are taught how to play, and foster our love of music.  In the latest vignette, past participants in NAMM’s Oral History program explore the experiences and influences music stores had on their lives and careers.  Take a listen to the stories from musicians John R. Smith, co-founder of the Nu Shooz, Jerry Harrison of the Talking Heads, Stray Cats own Bryan Setzer, legendary jazz guitarist John Scofield, Blues icon B.B. King, and Booker T. Jones of Booker T. & the M.G.’s as they remember iconic music stores like Manny’s Music, O.K. Hauck, and Amro Music.
