Jack DeJohnette was truly a drummer’s drummer — admired by his peers and celebrated by jazz fans around the world. His innovative approach, blending subtlety with power and creativity with groove, made him one of the most respected and influential drummers of his generation. Beginning in the 1960s, Jack became a driving force on countless jazz and popular recordings, performing and recording with legends such as Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Keith Jarrett, Sonny Rollins, and Pat Metheny. Beyond his extraordinary musicianship, Jack was also deeply committed to mentoring younger drummers and inspiring the next generation through masterclasses, workshops, and personal encouragement.
